How to use this
Pattern back-of-envelope math. Base yardage is sized at an adult M on 44-in quilting cotton; wider goods (54, 60) need proportionally less, and a nap or one-way print forces you to cut all pieces in the same direction, which eats about 15% more.
Always buy a touch extra for pattern matching and pre-wash shrinkage — a quarter yard of cushion is cheap insurance.
Formula
yards = base(garment) × size_mult × (44 ÷ width) × nap_mult
nap_mult = 1.15 if directional else 1.0
meters = yards × 0.9144
