How to use this
Regional nectar flow drives most of the variation in honey yield. Strong colonies with healthy populations can produce 30% more than average; weak or splitting colonies produce far less. Always leave enough honey for the bees to overwinter — 20% is a conservative floor in most climates; northern beekeepers often leave more.
Second-season flows (late summer / fall) depend heavily on local flora. Don’t count on them unless you know your area supports a reliable second flow.
Formula
gross = hives × region_rate × strength × seasons
extractable = gross × 0.80
jars_16oz = extractable ÷ 1 lb
